Transcription and Adaptation
Graduated in Horn from the State Conservatory of Music “Dall’Abaco” in Verona, he began studying music in the Desenzano del Garda City Band, which he conducted from 1978 to 1989. He later conducted the Riva del Garda Band and the Peschiera del Garda City Band from 1995 to 2004; with the latter, starting in the summer of 1995, he conceived and organized the C.E.M. (Summer Music Camp), which reached its 24th edition in 2019 before being interrupted due to the pandemic. He conducted summer music camps for the Federation of Bands of Como in 2001, 2002, and 2003.
He attended numerous European seminars, meeting notable figures such as Henk van Lijnschooten, Serge Lancen, Franco Cesarini, Jo Conjaerts, Giancarlo Aquilanti, and Ronald Johnson. For the Federal Music Association (Switzerland) in 1990 and 1992, he collaborated on the organization of the International Summer Music Camp. He has served as a jury member in several competitions, including the one held during the 30th Swiss Federal Music Festival (1996) and the Friuli Regional Band Competition (1998 and 2000).
In the educational field, he has been conducting training and professional development sessions for Directors and Teachers for over thirty years for various Italian band associations. His professional career began as a Music Education teacher in middle schools and later as a Horn instructor in the Music Program he established at the State Middle School of Padenghe sul Garda in 1992. He currently teaches Horn and Ensemble Music Workshop at the “Gambara” Music High School in Brescia.
In 2001, together with the Municipal Administration of Padenghe sul Garda, he created the National Composition Competition for Elementary School Students. One of the foremost experts on Ponchielli, he began studying the music of the Cremonese composer in the early 1980s, starting with the arrangement of the “Marcia Milano,” later published by Vidale Music Editions in Milan. He subsequently worked on other manuscripts preserved at the Civic Museum and State Library of Cremona, arranging marches, dances, and the Symphony for contemporary bands; some of these works were published by Wicky Music Editions.
Author of numerous musical transcriptions and educational works for both Middle School and Music High School, his publications are available from Vidale and Wicky.
