The Ponchelliano Museum is set up inside the birthplace of the renowned composer Amilcare Ponchielli (1834–1886).
It houses, in a chronological layout, original furniture and musical instruments, manuscripts, opera librettos from first performances and revivals, vocal and piano scores of both well-known and lesser-known works, as well as documents and photographs of Maestro Ponchielli.
The museum also hosts a phonological archive with audio and video recordings of operas, songs, and romances, along with a collection of biographical books and newspaper articles from the 19th century onward, all concerning the Maestro and his works.
In 2004, the Ponchelliano Museum received recognition from the regional authority as a museum collection, and in 2007 it was officially declared a museum. During those years, the museum established a restoration and preparation workshop. Additionally, it became part of the “Museum System of the Province of Cremona.”
